South Indian Dishes
Fish Kozhambu

Ingredients

8 Fish slices
1/4 cup Onion
4 Garlic cloves
Few Curryleaves
1 tsp Turmeric powder
21/2 tsp Red chilli powder
Tamarind lemon-size
3 tsp Oil
1/4 tsp Vadavam (If you don't have vadavam u can use mustard seeds)
Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Grind the onion, garlic and curry leaves very coarsely.
  2. Soak the tamarind in a cup of water.
  3. Extract the juice from the tamarind.
  4. Pour the tamarind juice in a bowl.
  5. Add the grinded mixture, chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt and mix it well.
  6. In a heated pan add oil and add vadavam or mustard seeds.
  7. When it splutters add the kozhambu mixture and close it with a lid.
  8. Boil it for 5-8 minutes  and remove the lid and add the fish and cook it for 5 more minutes.
  9. Then heat the kozhambu till it gets thick.
