Mutton Stew

Ingredients

1/2 kg mutton, chopped
2 potatoes, quartered
2 carrots chopped in big pieces
2 onions, chopped
1/2" ginger
5 garlic flakes
4 green chillies, slit lengthwise
5 cloves
2 bay leaves
6 black pepper
1/2" cinnamon
2 cardamoms
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
1/2 tsp maida
1/4 tsp vinegar
2 cups coconut milk
2 tbsp oil
Salt as per taste

Method:

  1. In a small pan heat 1 tbsp oil
  2. Fry onions till golden brown
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste, green chillies, bay leaves, cloves, cardamon, black pepper, cinnamon.
  4. Saute for 5 minutes
  5. Remove the fried masala from fire and keep aside
  6. In a big pan, heat the remaining oil
  7. Add flour and saute for 3 minutes
  8. Add mutton pieces and simmer for 5 minutes
  9. Add 3/4th of coconut milk and vinegar and let it cook till meat pieces are 1/2 cooked
  10. Add potatoes, carrot and and fried masala
  11. Add salt and pepper powder
  12. Let it cook till vegetables are tender and meat is completely cooked
  13. Add the remaining coconut milk
  14. Let it boil for 2 minutes
  15. Remove from fire
  16. Garnish with corriander leaves
  17. Serve hot
