Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups - flour
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1.25 tsp -baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp -baking powder
  • 2 cups - buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup - powdered Sugar
  • 2 -eggs, separated
  • 3 tbsp -oil
  • How to Make Aebleskivers:

    1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
    2. Whip egg whites together till fluffy in a separate bowl and set aside egg yolks.
    3. Fold whipped egg whites into dry ingredients.
    4. Add egg yolks and buttermilk to dry ingredients and mix together. Add in oil and mix together.
    5. Heat the pan on a medium heat. Pour a tsp each of oil into the depressions/holes.
    6. Once the oil is hot, over medium heat, pour in a tbsp of the batter mix into these depressions.
    7. Once the bottom starts turning brown, using a fork or skewer, carefully turn the ball over so that the uncooked portion goes down.
    8. You will see that a ball has been formed.
    9. Slowly keep turning till it turns golden brown on all sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
    10. Serve hot with jam or powdered sugar or whipped cream.
