  • Potatoes - 7-8
  • Methi leaves - 2 bunches
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Small Onion - 3
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Garlic - 3 pods
  • Ginger - 1 small piece
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tbsp (optional)
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste.
  • How to Make Aloo Methi Masala:

    1. Boil the potatoes and keep aside.
    2. Wash the methi leaves and cut them coarsely.
    3. Boil the methi leaves or microwave it for 8 minutes.
    4. Cut the onion, ginger, garlic and green mirchi.
    5. Heat 1 tbsp oil in pan and saute the finely cut garlic and ginger until light brown.
    6. Add the green mirchi and fry for another 2 minutes.
    7. Add the onions and saute until the onions turn pink. Keep aside.
    8. Add the remaining oil to the pan and keep on a low flame.
    9. Peel the boiled potatoes and cut them into equal sized pieces and add it to the oil.
    10. After 3-5 minutes, add the boiled methi leaves and salt and let it simmer.
    11. Now grind the onions, garlic, ginger and mirchi into a fine paste.
    12. Add this paste to the aloo-methi dish and cook for another 10 minutes.
    13. Add the cumin powder, garam masala and chilli powder and cook for 2-3 minutes.
    14. Serve with chappati.
