Ingredients

  • 2 cups - finely chopped and par boiled Spinach
  • 1 cup - finely chopped Onions
  • 1/2 cup - finely chopped green chillies, ginger, Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup - fresh Green peas
  • 1/2 cup - finely diced Carrots
  • 1/2 cup - diced green Capsicum
  • 1/2 cup - finely chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp - salted Butter
  • 1/2 cup - shredded cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - black pepper powder
  • Optional:
  • 1/2 cup - mashed Paneer
  • 1/2 cup - tender sauteed Mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup tender fresh Olives
  • 1/2 cup - diced Pineapple chunks or any minced meat/tuna/chicken etc.
  • For the pie crust:
  • 1 cup - finely sifted Maida
  • 1 cup - Milk
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/4 - tsp - salt
  • 2 -eggs

How to Make American Spinach Pie

  • Mix together all the chopped vegetables, salt, cheese, black pepper powder, butter in a greased baking dish.
  • Whisk in a blender all the ingredients for the pie crust.
  • Pour this whisked batter over the vegetable mix in the baking dish.
  • Put the baking dish in a pre-heated oven at 300 degree F for 50 minutes.
  • Optionally you may want to cover the top of the dish with an aluminium foil.
  • Take out from the oven when the top turns golden brown and the pie appears firm.
  • Cut into pieces and serve hot with golden crust buttered toasts and tomato ketchup.
