  • 1/2 kg - Amla (big variety)
  • 1/4 kg - vegetable oil
  • 200 gms - Red Chilli powder
  • 200 gms - salt
  • 1/4 tsp - rai (sesame seeds)
  • 1/4 tsp - Jeera
  • 1/4 tsp - Methi seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Urad Dal
  • 1 tsp - Asafoetida powder
  • 6 Dried red chillies
  • 10-15 Curry leaves (karivepaku)
  • How to Make Amla ka Pickle:

    1. Wash and dry amla.
    2. Take 1/4 kg of oil in a non-stick pan, heat the oil and add red chillies first.
    3. Let them become slightly brown and then add rai, jeera, urad dal, methi seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida.
    4. When the rai pops, add amla into the pan.
    5. Add salt and cook amla on low flame.
    6. Cover it with a plate and pour some water on the plate.
    7. Cook until the amla is soft and you can press the seeds out.
    8. Leave aside to cool.
    9. Add chilli powder and mix well. Amla achar is ready for use.
