  • For the pie dough:
  • 2 cups - all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 3 tbsp - sugar
  • 3/4 cup - soft butter
  • 1 - egg
  • 3-4 tbsp - cream
  • For the pie:
  • 5 apples, hollowed, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup - sugar
  • 1 tbsp - corn starch
  • 1/2 cup - sour cream
  • 2 - eggs

How to Make Apple Pie with Sour Cream

  • For the pie dough:
  • Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder into a mixing bowl.
  • Make a well in the middle of the flour.
  • Add the sugar, the butter and the egg to the well.
  • Little by little, incorporate flour to the butter, sugar, and egg.
  • Once the dough becomes dry, add the cream and form a ball.
  • Knead the dough twice before using.
  • For the pie:
  • Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Roll half of the dough.
  • Place the dough in a pie plate that is 1.5 inch high and preferably has a removable bottom.
  • Prick the bottom of the pie shell with a fork and brush with beaten egg.
  • Place the apples in a mixing bowl.
  • Add the sugar and the corn starch. Mix the ingredients well.
  • Fill the pie shell with the apple mixture.
  • Cook in the oven at 400 degrees F for 25 to 30 mins.
  • Place the sour cream and the eggs in a mixing bowl.
  • Beat well with a whisk. Remove the pie from the oven after 25-30 mins. of cooking time.
  • Pour the sour cream mixture over the apples.
  • Replace the pie in the oven and cook for an additional 20 mins. at 350 degrees F.
