1 cup - raw
2 to 3 ripe bananas, peeled and chopped
2 tbsp - grated
1/2 cup - jaggery, powdered
1/2 tsp - salt
2 tbsp - sesame seeds
2 tbsp - cashew nuts, finely chopped
oil to deep fry
How to Make Banana Modak
Soak rice in water for 2 hours and drain.
Grind without adding water till it is crushed.
Add jaggery and grind till the rice is like rawa(semolina).
Add chopped bananas and grind till they are reduced to a pulp.
Add salt. Mixture should be like a stiff paste.
Stir in the sesame seeds and cashew nuts.
Heat the oil for deep frying till it is moderately hot.
With wet fingers, take small lumps of banana paste and drop into the oil.
Fry till golden brown and drain on kitchen paper. Serve warm.
