Ingredients

  • 10 to 12 - large Prawns
  • 1 - Egg white
  • 1 - Onion
  • 5 flakes - Garlic
  • 2 tsp - Sugar or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 4 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp - Maida
  • A pinch - cooking soda
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil to deep fry

How to Make Batter Fried Stuffed Prawns

  • Grind onion, garlic, sugar and chilli powder together.
  • Heat the oil and fry the ground paste till the raw smell is lost.
  • Add tamarind paste, sugar and salt. Fry for 1 more minute and remove from heat. Cool the mixture.
  • Clean the prawns and remove the veins.
  • Slit the prawns along the back and stuff with fried paste.
  • Beat the egg white till frothy. Add maida, salt, cooking soda and pepper.
  • Dip the prawns in the egg batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
