Ingredients

  • This dish could be made with yellow pumpkin & prawn, or brinjal & prawn
  • Ingredients:
  • Onions - 2 (big, finely minced)
  • 4 - green chillies (deseeded & finely sliced ) Curry leaves -a sprig
  • Mustard seeds -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Juice of 1 Lime, freshly scraped
  • Coconut - 8 tbsp
  • Oil- 4 tbsp
  • Vegetable -1/2 kg of any of the vegetables mentioned
  • Prawns - 3/4 kg

How to Make Beetroot & Prawn Poriyal

  • Use required quantity of beetroots or pumpkin or brinjals.
  • If skin has to be removed remove the same & proceed.
  • Clean, wash, cut & keep aside.
  • Use small prawns, clean, de-vein, wash well & keep aside.
  • Mince onions, green chillies & fry till onions are brown.
  • Add mustard seeds, curry leaves & fry till mustard seeds crackle.
  • On a Low heat, add the prawns, add salt and turmeric powder.
  • Mix well, let it cook; sprinkle a little water if necessary.
  • When dry, sprinkle scraped coconut. Mix well & serve.
