Add water and grind all the ingredients for grinding to a paste.
Pressure cook toor dal and keep aside .
Heat oil, add the vaghar ingredients. Once they splutter, add curry leaves, turmeric, and onion and fry till golden brown.
Add toor dal, boil for five minutes and add tamarind juice.
Then add the ground paste, boil well for ten minutes.
Serve hot with rice or chapatti.
