  • 2 kg - chunk of mutton or beef
  • 3 - carrots, peeled and cut into big pieces
  • 2 - large onions, cut into quarters
  • 1/2 cup - chopped celery
  • 2 tsp - pepper powder
  • 1 tsp - dried mint powder
  • 1/2 tsp - nutmeg powder
  • 2 tbsp - butter
  • Salt - to taste

How to Make Braised Meat

  • Wash the meat and vegetables.
  • Heat an oven proof dish and melt the butter.
  • Add the meat and brown it all over well.
  • Remove the meat and keep aside.
  • In the same pan add the carrots, onions and celery and saute for a few minutes till slightly brown.
  • Place the browned meat on the vegetables. Sprinkle the mint powder, salt, pepper and nutmeg powder all over the meat.
  • Add 2 cups of water.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminium foil and cook in a moderate oven (355 degrees) for 1 hour till the meat is well cooked and gravy is brown.
