Ingredients

  • semolina (rava) - 2 cup
  • whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • grated coconut - 2 cup
  • green chilies - 4 to 5, chopped
  • ginger - 1 tsp, minced
  • sugar - 1 to 2 tbsp
  • oil or ghee as needed
  • salt to taste

How to Make Brown Bhakri

  • Combine all the ingredients together.
  • Add enough water to form a semi solid, paste like dough.
  • Keep covered for about ½ hour.
  • Heat a dosa tawa( preferably non-stick).
  • Lower the flame.
  • Dip your hand in a bowl of water and lift out a handful of dough.
  • Drop it on the tawa, and with moist fingers, flatten the dough to about 1 cm thick disc (your fingers must touch only the dough and not the tawa).
  • Pour some oil or ghee all round it and cook on mode heat.
  • When the underside is cooked, turn the bhakri over.
  • Now add some more ghee or oil and cook the other side.
  • Serve hot or cold with a blob of butter.
