Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg - cabbage
  • 1/2 cup - Bengal gram dal/channa dal
  • 1 - onion (small)
  • 1 - tomato (large)
  • A small quantity - ginger
  • 2 cloves - garlic
  • 1 - green chilli
  • 1 tbsp - red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • A pinch - asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp - grated coconut

How to Make Cabbage kootu

  • Cut cabbage, wash Bengal gram dal and put both together in a pressure cooker along with chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and asafoetida.
  • Stir well and pour required water.
  • Boil for 20 minutes, then add grated coconut and mix well.
