  • 1/2 cup - sugar
  • 450 ml - milk
  • 3 slices - bread
  • 1/2 cup - butter
  • 3-4 tbsp - chopped nuts (almond, cashewnut)
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 tsp - vanilla

How to Make Caramel Bread Pudding

  • Place the sugar in a thick bottomed pan. Add 1/2 cup of water.
  • Place on moderate heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Increase the heat and cook steadily (do not stir) until the syrup turns golden brown. Remove from the flame.
  • Pour warm milk and stir until the caramel is uniformly mixed with the milk. Let the mixture cool.
  • Remove crust from the bread slices and cut into triangles.
  • Melt the butter.
  • Dip the bread slices in butter and arrange in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle nuts on top.
  • Beat the eggs with vanilla and mix with caramel milk.
  • Pour on top of the bread pieces. Let it soak for an hour.
  • Bake in a moderate oven (180 degrees C) until set (about 45 minutes). Serve warm or cold.
