  • 75g - urad dal
  • 250g - chana dal
  • 2 to 3 - red chillies
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • 2 small onions
  • salt to taste

How to Make Chana-Udad Dal Vada

  • Wash and soak both the dals separately in water for about 4 hours.
  • Drain and grind to a slightly coarse paste with all the other ingredients with the exception of onions.
  • Add minced onions.
  • Form into round vadas on a wet cloth and deep fry to a golden colour.
  • Drain and serve hot with chutney of your choice.
