How to Make

  • Soak channa overnight in water. Drain and place in a pressure cooker.
  • Cover with water. Add 1/2 tsp salt.
  • Place the jack fruit pieces in the other separator pan. Do not add any water.
  • Pressure cook both these for 15 minutes.
  • Roast red chillies and coriander seeds in 2 tsp oil.
  • Grind them with coconut and tamarind to a smooth paste.
  • Combine the channa, jack fruit, salt and the ground paste.
  • Add water if needed to form a creamy gravy.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Heat the remaining oil in a small fry pan.
  • Add mustard and cumin.
  • When they splutter, add curry leaves.
  • Add this seasoning to the gasi.
  • Mix well and serve with steamed rice.
