Ingredients

  • For Cover:
  • 5 - potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 6 - bread slice
  • 1/2 tsp - black pepper
  • 1 tsp - chat masala
  • Salt - to taste
  • For Filling:
  • 100 g - channa dal
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp - green coriander, finely chopped
  • 2 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - cumin
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp - chat masala powder
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

How to Make Channa Dal Tikia

  • For cover:
  • Take mashed potatoes in a bowl.
  • Soak bread slices in little water, squeeze out extra water, mix it in potatoes and add salt and chat masala.
  • Keep it aside.
  • For Filling:
  • Wash dal and pressure cook with little water and salt, it should not get mashed.
  • Take 1 tbsp oil in pan, put jeera, onions cook it a little, add dal and other spices, mix it thoroughly, switch off gas and let it cool.
  • For Tikka:
  • Make small rounds of batter, fill each round with one tsp of filling, and flatten it lightly
  • Take large tawa or pan, keep it on medium heat, spread little oil on it and put 2-4 tikias at a time, brown it on both sides
  • Serve hot with green chutney.
