  • Milk - 2 litres
  • Suji - 2 tbsp
  • Maida - 2 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 kg
  • Lime - 1

How to Make Chhena Poda (Steamed Cheese cake)

  • Boil the milk and squeeze lime for the milk to curdle.
  • When the cottage cheese is ready, drain the water till a little moisture remains
  • In a tiffin box (aluminium or steel), put 3 tsp of sugar and evenly caramelize the box.
  • Add sugar, suji and maida to the chhena (cottage cheese) and knead thoroughly.
  • Put this mixture into the caramelized box.
  • Put the box in a pressure cooker, place the weight and pressure cook for about 20 mins, 1 pressure on high and then on low flame
  • Only when completely cool, remove from steam, turn it upside down and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.
