Ingredients

  • 1 kg - chicken, cleaned and drained
  • 2 kg - basmati rice, washed and soaked for 30 to 60 minutes
  • 2 tbsp - Khus Khus seeds, roasted
  • 5-6 - Green chillies
  • 1 bunch - coriander leaves, big and finely chopped
  • 1 bunch - Mint leaves, big and finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • juice of 3-4 limes
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - garam-masala powder
  • 2 tbsp - Red Chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 500 g - yogurt/curd

How to Make Chicken Biryani with Khus khus

  • Grind the green chillies and khus khus together into a fine paste.
  • In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients, except the rice, with the chicken and marinate for 2 hours.
  • In a vessel, add water, salt, whole garam masala (cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, shahjeera ) and oil and bring to boil.
  • Add the soaked rice and semi-cook immediately.
  • Drain and add to the chicken mixture and cook in a pressure cooker until done.
  • Serve with dalcha or raitha.
