  • 1.5 to 2 pounds - fish/prawns
  • 1.5 - finely chopped onions
  • 1 cup - butter or vegetable oil
  • 3/4 tbsp - salt
  • 4 - medium tomatoes (or tinned tomatoes)
  • 1.5 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp- chilli powder (cayenne powder)
  • 8 pods - garlic (peeled and pulped)
  • Ginger - same amount as garlic (peeled and pulped)
  • 4 to 7 - green chillies
  • 4 sprigs - coriander leaves

How to Make Chilli Fish Curry

  • Melt the butter or heat the oil, or a mix of both in a pan.
  • Add onion and salt, and cook till the onion turns translucent.
  • Add tomatoes, garlic, ginger, green chillies, and the spices, and cook over medium to high heat while stirring every 10 to 30 seconds. Add water when it starts to stick at the bottom.
  • Cook till the onion blends in the sauce and the oil separates.
  • Add a little more oil or butter, add the fish, and stir the mixture carefully for about 3 to 5 minutes. Cook till done. Serve garnished with finely chopped coriander leaves.
