Ingredients

  • 1 lb - Crab (discard the Crab legs and claws)
  • 2 - big onions, chopped
  • 2 - large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup - Tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 2 - Bay Leaves
  • 2 - cloves, whole
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • For marinating:
  • 1/2 cup - Curd
  • 1 tbsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1.5 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • How to Make Crab kosha:

    1. Mix the ingredients for the marinade and add the crab pieces, mixing well.
    2. Marinate for 15-20 minutes in the refrigerator.
    3. In a blender, make onion paste and tomato paste separately.
    4. In a large non-stick skillet, heat 3 tbsp oil, and add bay leaves and cloves.
    5. Add the onion paste, and saute for about a minute or so till it turns brownish.
    6. Add the tomato paste and cook for another minute.
    7. Add the turmeric and red chilli powders along with tomato ketchup to the pan.
    8. Stir constantly till the raw smell vanishes and the oil separates.
    9. Add the marinated crab to this mixture, mix well, cover and boil for 5 to 7 minutes.
    10. Serve hot with rice or paratha.
