Ingredients

  • 1 lb - crab (discard the crab legs and claws)
  • 2 - big onions, chopped
  • 2 - large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup - tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp - red chilli powder
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 2 - cloves, whole
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • For marinating:
  • 1/2 cup - curd
  • 1 tbsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1.5 tsp - garam masala powder

How to Make Crab kosha

  • Mix the ingredients for the marinade and add the crab pieces, mixing well.
  • Marinate for 15-20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • In a blender, make onion paste and tomato paste separately.
  • In a large non-stick skillet, heat 3 tbsp oil, and add bay leaves and cloves.
  • Add the onion paste, and saute for about a minute or so till it turns brownish.
  • Add the tomato paste and cook for another minute.
  • Add the turmeric and red chilli powders along with tomato ketchup to the pan.
  • Stir constantly till the raw smell vanishes and the oil separates.
  • Add the marinated crab to this mixture, mix well, cover and boil for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice or paratha.
