How to Make Dal Fry with onions

  • Boil the lentils in pressure cooker for about 10 mins (3 whistles at the most).
  • Heat oil in a kadai, roast cumin until it turns brown
  • Add onions and garlic. Fry until the onions turn brown
  • Add tomato and fry until the tomato softens
  • To this, add the cooked dal, chilli powder and turmeric
  • Simmer for about 5 mins
  • Serve with rotis or rice
