Ingredients

  • 1 cup - whole masoor dal - soaked overnight
  • 1/2 kg - Paneer cubes
  • 2 cups - fresh cream, beaten
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp - Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp - ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Cinnamon powder
  • 3 - Garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 - medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup - Tomato puree
  • 1 tsp - amchur powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Ginger powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee
  • 2 tbsp - Butter
  • How to Make Dal Makhni Paneer:

    1. Soak dal overnight.
    2. Immerse paneer cubes in a bowl of water with a pinch of turmeric powder.
    3. Heat ghee and fry onions till translucent.
    4. Add the garlic, powder spices, tomato paste and fry well, stirring continuously.
    5. Now add the dal to the spices, stir well, add enough water and cook till dal is done.
    6. While simmering, add beaten cream 2 tbsp at a time, stirring continuously
    7. Drain paneer and add to the curry.
    8. Add salt and sugar to taste and top with butter - simmer till desired consistency is reached.
    9. Serve.
