Ingredients

  • 1 cup - masoor dal
  • 3 - onions, sliced
  • 3 - tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - pepper powder / ground pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 - Bay Leaf
  • 1 - small stick Cinnamon
  • 3 - Cloves

How to Make Dal Mulligatawny Soup (lentil Soup)

  • Cook the masoor dal with 4 cups of water together with the tomato ginger and garlic paste, onion, pepper powder, bay leaf, chilli powder, cinnamon, cloves and salt till soft.
  • Remove and cool well.
  • Grind in a blender and strain through a sieve.
  • Add a little more water to get the desired consistency.
  • Heat again and add the butter and serve hot with rolls or croutons
