Ingredients

  • 1 cup - masoor dal
  • 3 - onions, sliced
  • 3 - tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - pepper powder / ground pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 - Bay Leaf
  • 1 - small stick Cinnamon
  • 3 - Cloves
  • How to Make Dal Mulligatawny Soup (lentil Soup):

    1. Cook the masoor dal with 4 cups of water together with the tomato ginger and garlic paste, onion, pepper powder, bay leaf, chilli powder, cinnamon, cloves and salt till soft.
    2. Remove and cool well.
    3. Grind in a blender and strain through a sieve.
    4. Add a little more water to get the desired consistency.
    5. Heat again and add the butter and serve hot with rolls or croutons
