Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Channa dal
  • 1/2 cup - moong dal
  • 1/2 cup - masoor dal
  • 1/4 cup - Urad Dal
  • 1/4 cup - tur dal
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander seeds
  • 2 tbsp - Cumin seeds
  • half inch - Ginger
  • 5 to 6 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1/2 cup - Coriander leaves or fresh spinach, chopped
  • 3-4 - hot medium sized Green chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch - baking soda
  • Oil - deep frying
  • How to Make Dal Pakoras:

    1. Wash dals and soak them separately.
    2. Make smooth paste of ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.
    3. Grind soaked dals into a coarse paste.
    4. Mix the smooth paste and the coarse paste with salt and a pinch of baking soda.
    5. Add chopped spinach or coriander leaves.
    6. Heat oil in pan or kadai.
    7. Make small balls, drop with small spoon in pre-heated oil and fry till light brown.
    8. Eat hot with tomato ketchup or fresh ground mango chutney.
