Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1 tsp - Green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup - cooked Green peas
  • 2 - tomatoes, chopped
  • 5 - Curry leaves
  • 2 - Cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 - Red Chillies
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tbsp - fresh coconut, grated
  • 2 tbsp - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Dal sartaj:

    1. Boil dal in a pressure cooker. Remove. Churn lightly.
    2. Add chilli paste, peas, tomatoes, curry leaves, coconut, turmeric powder and salt. Boil once. Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, red chillies and garlic.
    3. Brown and pour over dal. Serve with rice.
