Ingredients

  • For the filling:
  • Black gram dal - 1/2 cup
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 tbsp, finely chopped
  • For the dough:
  • Whole Wheat flour - 1.5 cup
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - to mix

How to Make Dal Stuffed Poories

  • For the filling:
  • Soak the dal in water for 1/2 an hour and drain
  • In the meantime, prepare the dough, cover and keep aside
  • Now add coconut, chillies, salt and asafoetida to the dal
  • Coarse grind in the mixer without adding any water, add curry leaves and divide into 15 portions
  • Now divide the dough also into 15 portions
  • Make smooth balls and roll out into small circles
  • Put a portion of the filling on each
  • Now roll it up and seal the edges
  • Roll the stuffed portion into small thick poories
  • Heat oil and deep fry till golden brown on both sides
  • Serve hot
