Ingredients

  • 1 cup - thick poha, washed
  • 1/2 cup - channa dal soaked for 3-4 hours and ground coarsely
  • 1-2 - green chillies
  • 1 cup - finely chopped onion
  • 6-7 - curry leaves
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1/4 tsp each - mustard seeds, asafoetida and turmeric powder
  • Salt and sugar to taste
  • 1tbsp - lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup

How to Make Dalpoha

  • Heat the oil and splutter mustard seeds
  • When it starts to splutter, add asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves and onion
  • Fry the onion and add ground dal and stir covered for 1 minute
  • Add soaked poha, salt and sugar to taste and then stir
  • If required, add 1/4 tsp of red chilli powder and keep it covered for 1-2 mins
  • Mix lemon juice and garnish with coriander and coconut
