Ingredients

  • 1 cup - thick poha, washed
  • 1/2 cup - Channa dal soaked for 3-4 hours and ground coarsely
  • 1-2 - Green chillies
  • 1 cup - finely chopped Onion
  • 6-7 - Curry leaves
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1/4 tsp each - mustard seeds, Asafoetida and Turmeric powder
  • Salt and Sugar to taste
  • 1tbsp - Lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • How to Make Dalpoha:

    1. Heat the oil and splutter mustard seeds
    2. When it starts to splutter, add asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves and onion
    3. Fry the onion and add ground dal and stir covered for 1 minute
    4. Add soaked poha, salt and sugar to taste and then stir
    5. If required, add 1/4 tsp of red chilli powder and keep it covered for 1-2 mins
    6. Mix lemon juice and garnish with coriander and coconut
