Ingredients

  • Maida (all-purpose flour) - 3/4 cup
  • baking powder - 3/4 tsp
  • Butter - 1/4 cup
  • powdered Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • chopped Dates - 1 cup
  • chopped nuts - 2 tbsp
  • Egg 1
  • Orange essence - 1/2 tsp
  • water - 1 tbsp

How to Make Date Chews

  • Grease an 8 inch square cake tin and line it with butter paper.
  • Melt the butter and leave to cool.
  • Add egg, sugar and essence. Beat well.
  • Stir in the dates, nuts and water.
  • Pour in the prepared tin and bake in a mode oven till done (20 minutes approximately).
  • After 5 minutes, turn out, cool completely and cut into slices
