Ingredients

  • 1 Spinach bunch, cleaned and chopped finely
  • 2 cups Wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp dhania-jeera powder
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1.5 tsp ajwain
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • some sour yogurt to mix the dough
  • salt to taste
  • Ghee to roast the debru

How to Make Debru

  • Add the chopped spinach to a bowl and add the flour, turmeric, chilli powder, dhania-jeera, sugar, ajwain, salt and mix well.
  • Add the oil and mix well.
  • Add the yogurt.
  • Now, knead it into a dough.
  • Leave the dough in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. (Alternately, you can immediately start cooking the theplas).
  • Roll out the debru-like chapatti and cook them in a pan by cooking first on one side.
  • Turn it over and add ghee.
  • Turn to the other side and add some ghee again.
  • It should be cooked well on both sides.
