Ingredients

  • Banana stem - 20 cm piece
  • Sesame seeds - 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves - 10 leaves
  • Green chillies - 5
  • Red chillies - 5
  • Channa dal (Bengal gram) - 2 tsp
  • Urad dal (black gram) - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • 6 tsp - veg oil

How to Make Doota Koora

  • Peel the outer skin of the stem and thinly slice it, removing the fibre as you go.
  • Now grate them (will resemble grated coconut).
  • Add salt and turmeric to it and cook it on a low flame till done.
  • In a shallow pan, pour oil and add slit green chillies, red chillies, mustard seeds, black gram, Bengal gram, curry leaves, when the grams turn into golden brown add cooked stock and stir well
  • Roast sesame seeds and make a powder out of it.
  • Sprinkle this powder before removing the pan from the fire
  • Serve it with white rice and ghee (clarified butter)
