Ingredients

  • 500g - Flour/maida
  • 1/2 litre - Milk
  • 6 tbsp - Sugar
  • 1tsp - Salt
  • 200g - Butter
  • 1 tsp - Grated Orange rind
  • 1 cup - Warm water
  • 3 - Eggs, beaten
  • 200g - Black Currants
  • 2 tsp - Active Dry yeast
  • icing Sugar
  • How to Make Easter Currant Loaf:

    1. Heat milk and mix the sugar in it.
    2. Now dissolve the yeast in one cup of warm water.
    3. Sift the flour and salt together.
    4. Now combine all the ingredients together and knead well.
    5. Cover with a towel and set aside to rise for 2 hours.
    6. Form into the shape of loaves and place in greased and floured cake tins.
    7. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle icing sugar liberally on top.
    8. Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown.
    9. Remove from the tins when cold.
