Ingredients

  • 1 cup - kootu flour
  • 1 tbsp - singhara flour
  • 1 tsp - Arrowroot flour
  • 1 tbsp - hot oil
  • 3 to 4 pinches - Turmeric powder
  • To taste - salt
  • Little - water
  • For the filling:
  • 3 - potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 3 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp - coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp - curry leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 - lemon, juice extracted
  • To taste salt
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • Other ingredients:
  • To deep fry - oil
  • How to Make Easy Batata Vada:

    1. Mix all the ingredients, to make a smooth batter, thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Keep aside, till required.
    2. For the filling:
    3. Heat oil in a pan.
    4. Add curry leaves, cumin seeds and chillies.
    5. Add potato, lemon juice, salt, coriander and mix well.
    6. Cool a little, make round balls and keep aside, till required.
    7. To proceed:
    8. Heat oil in a frying pan.
    9. Dip each ball in the batter and let gently into hot oil.
    10. Fry on medium heat, till light golden.
    11. Drain on an absorbent paper.
    12. Repeat with the rest of the filling balls.
    13. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
