Ingredients

  • 1 cup - kootu flour
  • 1 tbsp - singhara flour
  • 1 tsp - Arrowroot flour
  • 1 tbsp - hot oil
  • 3 to 4 pinches - Turmeric powder
  • To taste - salt
  • Little - water
  • For the filling:
  • 3 - potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 3 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp - coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp - curry leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 - lemon, juice extracted
  • To taste salt
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • Other ingredients:
  • To deep fry - oil

How to Make Easy Batata Vada

  • Mix all the ingredients, to make a smooth batter, thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Keep aside, till required.
  • For the filling:
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add curry leaves, cumin seeds and chillies.
  • Add potato, lemon juice, salt, coriander and mix well.
  • Cool a little, make round balls and keep aside, till required.
  • To proceed:
  • Heat oil in a frying pan.
  • Dip each ball in the batter and let gently into hot oil.
  • Fry on medium heat, till light golden.
  • Drain on an absorbent paper.
  • Repeat with the rest of the filling balls.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney.
