Ingredients

  • Wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  • Maida - 1/2 cup
  • Besan (chickpea flour) - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - to taste
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • White sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
  • Butter - 3 tbsp
  • Oil - to fry

How to Make

  • Combine all flours in a bowl.
  • Now place this flour mix in a muslin bag/cloth and tie it up with a string.
  • Steam this for 20 minutes in a steamer.
  • Now remove the string and beat this with a wooden spoon and powder it.
  • Sift to remove any lumps.
  • Powder the lumps and sift again.
  • Add the remaining ingredients except the oil.
  • Now knead into a soft dough.
  • Place some dough in the chakli press and make discs of concentric circles.
  • Transfer the discs carefully into moderately hot oil and fry until crisp.
  • Repeat till all the dough is consumed.
  • Cool and store in a tight container.
