Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • 2 - large onions, chopped finely
  • 2 - green chillies, chopped
  • 1 cup - chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tbsp - water
  • salt - to taste
  • 1 Egg white - lightly beaten
  • water to seal edges
  • a little dry flour to roll pastry
  • How to Make Easy Layer Samosas:

    1. To prepare the filling:
    2. Heat the oil in a saucepan.
    3. Add the onions and cook till they caramelize (turn light brown).
    4. Add the ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala powder, salt, green chillies and cook on medium for 5 minutes.
    5. Add the water to avoid the filling from drying and cook for 5 minutes.
    6. Add coriander leaves and let the filling cool.
    7. To prepare the pastry:
    8. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
    9. Cut the pastry sheets into three strips each.
    10. Start rolling each strip till it is as thick as a paratha.
    11. Cut into 6 sections.
    12. Add 1/2 tsp of filling in the centre of the pastry and wet the edges with water.
    13. Fold over the pastry to form a triangle (samosa) and press the edges to seal.
    14. Place on a baking sheet and brush lightly with a beaten egg white.
    15. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes checking every 5 minutes till the tops turn a nice dark brown.
