Ingredients

  • 1 cup - besan/gram flour
  • 1 cup - jaggery
  • 1/2 cup - ghee, vegetable oil

How to Make Easy Okkarai

  • Heat 3 to 4 tablespoon of the ghee and vegetable oil in a kadai.
  • Roast the besan on a low flame till it gets slightly reddish. Keep aside.
  • Now prepare the jaggery syrup by dissolving the jaggery in one and half cups of water.
  • Add this syrup to the besan.
  • Mix thoroughly so that no lumps are formed.
  • Now transfer this mixture into a kadai.
  • Lower the flame and keep stirring. Add oil and ghee from time to time.
  • When the mixture hardens and leaves the sides of the pan, switch off the stove (there should be no moisture) and serve.
