How to Make Erai Kuzhambu

  • Grind the tamarind with tomatoes in 1/2 cup of warm water.
  • Make a thick paste and strain the paste.
  • Add sufficient water to it.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and splutter vadagam.
  • Add the garlic cloves, curry leaves and shallots, fry until onions turn translucent.
  • Add drumsticks, raw banana pieces and saute.
  • Add prawns and put stove on low flame.
  • Add salt, dhania powder red chilli powder to the tamarind-tomato juice.
  • Add this spiced juice to the vegetables and prawns, cook on high flame.
  • Once it boils add the potatoes to this gravy.
  • Cover and let it cook for 10 minutes.
  • Switch off the stove.
  • Serve hot with rice.
