  • 300 gm - boneless fish, any variety
  • oil for frying the fish
  • 1 tbsp. - Corn flour
  • 1 tsp - fennel powder
  • 2 tsp - Onion seeds (kalonji)
  • 1 tsp - black cumin (kala jeera)
  • 1 cup - onion, fried brown
  • 2 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp. - Tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp. - Coconut Milk
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Fish in onion seeds:

    1. Cut fish into cubes, sprinkle salt and corn flour over it.
    2. Heat oil for shallow frying and fry the fish pieces, a few at a time.
    3. Turn once or twice so that both the sides of the fish are cooked to a golden brown colour.
    4. Drain oil and keep aside.
    5. Fry browned onion, ginger-garlic paste and the tomato puree in the same pan.
    6. Sir and cook over medium heat for 2 mins. Lower heat, mix in the spices and cook for 30 seconds. Then, add 1 cup of water. Add salt. Bring to a boil and add the coconut milk.
    7. Mix in the fried fish pieces. Bring to simmer and turn off heat.
