How to Make Fried Mussels

  • Remove the mussels from the shell.
  • Clean the inside part of the mussel to remove dirt.
  • Cut and remove the black part in the bottom of the mussel.
  • Clean well and set aside.
  • Mix red chilli powder, turmeric powder, crushed pepper powder, salt and lime juice/ little water.
  • Marinate mussels with this mixture for 10-15 minutes.
  • Heat about 1/2 cup of oil in a kadai.
  • When the oil is hot, add one or two marinated mussels at a time and fry on both side, till they are fried and fully cooked.
  • Take out of the oil and drain.
  • Fry rest of the marinated mussels in the same way.
  • Serve as a starter or side dish with rice, rasam, sambar .
