Ingredients

  • 1 cup - masoor dal
  • 1/2 cup - carrot, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup - cabbage, shredded
  • 1/4 cup - brinjal, diced
  • 1/4 cup - peas
  • 1/4 cup - capsicum
  • 1 cup - onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup - tomato, diced
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 1 tsp - cumin
  • 3 - green chillies
  • 3 tsp - gotsu powder
  • For gotsu powder:
  • 1 tbsp - channa dal
  • 1 tbsp - coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp - cumin
  • 4 - red chillies

How to Make Gotsu

  • For the gotsu powder:
  • Roast channa dal, coriander seeds, cumin and red chillies in a little oil and dry grind them and store it in an airtight container
  • For the gotsu:
  • Crackle mustard, add urad dal, cumin and green chillies.
  • Add the onions and fry till translucent. Add the tomatoes and capsicum and saute for 2-3 mins.
  • Now add the masoor dal, water and boil till the dal is tender.
  • Add the vegetables and boil further until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the gotsu powder and stir for a minute.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
