Ingredients

  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Channa dal -1 tbsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Dried red chillies - a few
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cloves - 5
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Asafoetida - 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Cooked rice - 2 cup

How to Make Grated Coconut Rice

  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds, then add the chana dal, urad dal and saute until brown.
  • Now add the cloves, red chillies, cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida, add the grated coconut and fry until golden brown.
  • Add this mixture to the rice.
  • Serve hot.
