Ingredients

  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp - garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp - salt
  • 6 - whole peppercorns, crushed
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric
  • 2 tsp - coriander
  • 2 tsp - cumin
  • 2 - chilli peppers, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 4 - whole Cloves
  • 1 stick - Cinnamon
  • 2 - Cardamom pods
  • 1 cup - green split peas, dried
  • 2 - tomatoes, diced
  • 5 cup - Chicken stock
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala
  • How to Make Green Pea Soup:

    1. In a large soup pot, fry the onions in the oil until light brown.
    2. Stir in the spices & toss in the peas & tomatoes.
    3. Stir again & cook for 5 minutes over moderate heat.
    4. Add stock. Bring to a boil.
    5. Cover & simmer until the peas are tender for at least an hour.
    6. Serve hot
