Ingredients

  • 2 - Green peppers
  • 5 - Green or Red Chillies
  • 1 tbsp - Bengal Gram Dal
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 tbsp - Coconut powder
  • A piece of Ginger
  • A pinch of Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - Oil
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1 cup - yogurt or 2 cups - Buttermilk
  • 1 Clove - Garlic (optional)
  • How to Make Green Pepper Kadi:

    1. Cut green peppers into medium-sized pieces.
    2. Soak bengal gram for about 30 minutes.
    3. Blend bengal gram, chillies, coconut, cumin, ginger, garlic to a fine consistency.
    4. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and turmeric.
    5. Fry green pepper until it gets cooked.
    6. Add salt to taste. Don't overcook.
    7. Add blend mixture. Let it boil.
    8. Finally add yogurt or buttermilk. Simmer.
    9. Garnish with coriander leaves.
    10. Serve with either white rice or Pongal.
