Ingredients

  • For chutney:
  • Urad dal - 3 tsp
  • Fenugreek (methi) seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper corns - 5-6
  • Red chillies - 1-2
  • Green chillies - 1-2
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Fresh coriander - 1 tbsp
  • Fresh grated coconut - 1 small cup
  • Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Hing (a pinch)
  • Sour curd - 2 -3 cups
  • For seasoning:
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli - 1 (split into two pieces)

How to Make Hasi Majjigge

  • Roast urad dal, fenugreek, cumin, pepper corns, red chillies with a pinch of hing on medium flame till you get good aroma and dal becomes brown.
  • Grind the above with coconut, haldi, salt, sugar, fresh coriander and green chillies to a chutney consistency.
  • Take curd in a big bowl and beat till it blends. Then pour chutney and mix well.
  • Season with mustard, cumin and red chillies, decorate with chopped fresh coriander.
  • Serve with veg pulao, biriyani, any mixed rice.
