Ingredients

  • 1 loaf sliced bread
  • 1/4 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 tin - Milkmaid
  • 3 cups - Milk
  • 1/2 cup - chopped dry fruit (walnut, almonds, etc)
  • 1/4 tsp - Cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp - Corn flour
  • 1 tbsp - chopped Pistachios
  • How to Make Hot Bread Pudding:

    1. Choose a casserole that will fit 4 slices of bread arranged in a square.
    2. Sprinkle a tsp of corn flour on the bottom of the casserole.
    3. Keep aside.
    4. Mix corn flour, 1/2 cup cold milk till blended.
    5. Sprinkle cardamom and cinnamon over it.
    6. Keep aside.
    7. Mix sugar in 1/2 cup warm milk till dissolved.
    8. Keep aside.
    9. Heat remaining milk, boil till reduced to 1 cup.
    10. Add Milkmaid, corn flour mixture and stir continuously.
    11. Cook till thick enough to coat back of a spoon.
    12. Stir in chopped dry fruits, except pistachios.
    13. Keep mixture aside, stirring frequently to avoid a skin forming.
    14. Arrange 4 slices bread on dusted base of casserole.
    15. Sprinkle some sweet milk over bread slices.
    16. Spread one fourth of mixture on slices.
    17. Place another layer of bread slices, pour over some milk again.
    18. Repeat till all bread and mixture is used up, topping with mixture.
    19. Sprinkle pistachios, cool to room temperature.
    20. When completely cold, refrigerate for 1 hour.
    21. Bake in preheated oven, till top layer becomes a light gold.
    22. Serve hot with chocolate sauce or scoops of ice cream.
