Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup - whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup - semolina
  • 1/2 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - grated jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp - fennel powder
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • 1/2 cup - warm milk
  • Oil for deep frying
  • A pinch of baking soda (if required)

How to Make Indian Thekua

  • Mix all the ingredients (except baking soda) with milk and knead into a stiff dough. Keep aside for 20 min.
  • Cut into small pieces in desired shape and size.
  • Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the thekuas in batches.
  • Or mix baking soda while mixing the dough and bake the thekuas in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20 mins until golden on top.
  • Dust with some icing sugar before serving.
