Ingredients

  • 10 cups - flour
  • 18 - Egg
  • 2 packets - Yeast
  • 6 tbsp - Sugar
  • 400g - Butter
  • water - as needed
  • Salt - 1 tbsp

How to Make Italian Easter Bread

  • Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water with a tsp of sugar.
  • Mix all ingredients with yeast and knead for 10 minutes. Put in large greased bowl and cover with a towel.
  • Let it to rise for 2 hours.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal parts.
  • Make each part into a 10 x 4 inch piece.
  • Cut each piece into 3 strips and braid.
  • Put each braid into a greased 8 inch cake pan.
  • Cover with dish towel and leave to rise for another 2 hours.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
