Ingredients

  • 1 - Raw jackfruit (small)
  • 1 - potato, medium sized
  • 1 medium sized - onion
  • 1 tsp - garlic paste
  • 1.5 tsp - ginger paste
  • 4 nos - cloves
  • 2 nos - green chillie
  • 2 tbsp - tomato puree
  • or half medium sized tomato cut into small cubes
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - jeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp - meat powder(optional)
  • Or curry powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- small pinch
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

How to Make Jackfruit Aloo Masala Curry

  • Peel the jackfruit and cut into long thin slices.
  • If you are using jackfruit can, open the can and wash the jackfruit pieces thoroughly.
  • Peel potato and cut into long cube shaped.
  • Cut the onion into thin slices and grind to make a thick paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry cut potatoes till light golden brown.
  • Keep it aside.
  • Then to the remaining oil add cloves and onion paste.
  • Fry till onion becomes light brown.
  • Add chillies, turmeric powder & thin sliced jackfruit.
  • Mix the jackfruit well with the masala and stir in between for 5 - 7 minutes.
  • Then add fried potatoes to it and mix well for another 3 minutes.
  • Add tomato puree or cube shaped tomatoes, meat masala or curry powder.
  • Add water and salt as desired.
  • Keep in fire till jackfruit and potatoes becomes tender and gravy becomes slightly thick.
  • You can pressure cook as well all above upto one whistle.
  • After gravy becomes thick, take off from fire and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with plain or steamed rice.
