  • Cooked Rice - 4 cups
  • Oil or Ghee - 3 tbsp
  • Black cumin - 1.5 tsp
  • Dried red chilli - 2, broken into pieces
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Jeera Phakala (Jeera Rice):

    1. Heat oil or ghee in a kadai.
    2. Add black cumin and when it splutters, add chilli and curry leaves.
    3. Fry for few seconds. Lower the heat, add rice and salt, and mix gently.
    4. Sprinkle a handful of water and keep covered on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
    5. Serve.
